Weather for Educators July 7 and 8, 2006 SCIT2022 103054Q Workshop will open the exciting study of the atmosphere by following the weather as it happens, in real time via the Internet. The course will provide participants with the basic background necessary to understand the interactions between the atmosphere and the earth. Teachers will learn how to promote critical thinking skills by being able to show them how to interactively analyze and interpret real-time weather data. The core instructional concepts in atmospheric sciences are correlated with the Online Weather Studies course developed for online delivery, which provides an excellent base of information to implement instruction with topic specific lesson plans. Links will be provided to tie Online Weather Studies to a topic outline, lesson plans, Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for elementary/ middle school science, and the correlations to the National Science Education Standard (NSES). Second day will include a field trip to a Weather Service Office. Participants are encouraged to dress comfortably. Some activities may be done outside (sunscreen recommended); field trip will require some walking. Please advise SCRMCC if you will require any special assistance in order to participate. Bus will leave at 8:00 am please be early so that it can leave on time. Cost: 149.00
