Workshop for IPC and Chemistry Teachers August 2, 2004 " Physical Properties: LASERS, Light, and Color"" Registration Code: SCIT2008 302034Q
PROGRAM
Each activity will include discussion about experiment applications. Teachers are encouraged to reflect on student applications including ways to enhance problem solving and critical thinking skills. 8:30-9:00AM Arrival, Registration and "Get Acquainted" Region VII ESC Building in Kilgore Experiments will include the use of a LASER pointer to investigate the properties of reflection, refraction, and diffraction, including mirages and why stars twinkle, a study of the primary colors of light both additive and subtractive and how this effects the colors we see and those transmitted, and how the properties of light can be used to help us study properties such as viscosity, surface tension, and intermolecular forces. Cost includes all necessary supplies for the participants and a personal copy of the laboratory experiments performed. Rights to copy experiments for these workshops are granted to SCRMCC ONLY courtesy of the Publishing Companies. Teachers from a Region VII Cooperative school should contact Nita Beth Camp at the Region VII Education Service Center to have fee paid by Region VII.
Lunch on your Own Participants are encouraged register at least two weeks in advance to assist with planning. Attendance is limited to 20 so be sure to register early. Registration will be through the Tyler Junior College Continuing Education Department. Please see the Registration Form. ESC Region VII teachers are encouraged to register through their service centers.
